'� BACKGROUND: The City has a contract with Decatur Taxi, Inc., to provide door-to- I� door transportation for people with disabilities as a part of the ' Transit System's complementary paratransit services. The expiration date of the contract is Apri130, 2005. Decatur Taxi was recently purchased by Dan Gillespie, operating as Decatur Trans- portation, and the former owner of Decatur Taxi has requested that the City's contract be assigned to Decatur Transportation (letter attached). ' Mr. Gillespie has assured the City that this purchase will not result in a reduction of service or a change in the quality of service now provided under this contract. Since the contract would be assigned to the purchasing company, all of the terms of that contract would still be in effect, including the current fares and reimbursement, services provided,federal, state and local regulations, etc. POTENTIAL There are no known or expected objections to the proposed contract OBJECTION: assignment.
