, 1 <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 052504-1 <br /> May 25,2004 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Garman, C y Manager <br /> Paul McChan� ass Transit Administrator-��t G <br /> SUBJECT: Assignrnent of T xi Contract to Decatur Transportation <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council approve a Resolution to consent to <br /> RECOMMENDATION: the assignment of a Transit System contract, to provide trips for <br /> people with disabilities, from Decatur Taxi, Inc. to Decatur Trans- � <br /> portation. '� <br /> BACKGROUND: The City has a contract with Decatur Taxi, Inc., to provide door-to- I� <br /> door transportation for people with disabilities as a part of the ' <br /> Transit System's complementary paratransit services. The <br /> expiration date of the contract is Apri130, 2005. Decatur Taxi was <br /> recently purchased by Dan Gillespie, operating as Decatur Trans- <br /> portation, and the former owner of Decatur Taxi has requested that <br /> the City's contract be assigned to Decatur Transportation (letter <br /> attached). ' <br /> Mr. Gillespie has assured the City that this purchase will not result <br /> in a reduction of service or a change in the quality of service now <br /> provided under this contract. Since the contract would be assigned <br /> to the purchasing company, all of the terms of that contract would <br /> still be in effect, including the current fares and reimbursement, <br /> services provided,federal, state and local regulations, etc. <br /> POTENTIAL There are no known or expected objections to the proposed contract <br /> OBJECTION: assignment. <br /> INPUT FROM Dan Gillespie <br /> OTHER SOURCES: Decatur Transportation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME There will be no change in the cost of this contract or in the amount <br /> IMPLICATIONS: or share paid by the City. There will be no change in the amount of <br /> staff time required to coordinate with the contractor. <br />
