� y The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation for the use of Motor Fuel Tax Funds. The project was advertised on May 7, 2004 and bids were opened on May 28, 2004. The results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): Compared to Engineer's Est. Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� Engineer's Estimate $ 596,935.00 ----- GM Sipes Construction, Inc. $ 615,065.00 3.04% Kinney Contractors, Inc. $ 699,690.00 17.21% G. M. Sipes is the low bidder for this project. They completed the joint repairs for the City during the summer of �003 with very good results. Staff recommends G. M. Sipes for this proj ect. On March 15, 2004, the City Council authorized the allocation of$600,000 in MFT funds for concrete pavement joint restoration work. The bids received are in excess of the amount previously allocated by Council. Staff recommends the allocation of an additional $30,000 in MFT funds to cover the project and minor contingencies. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Funding for this project is currently budgeted in the City's Motor Fuel Tax Fund. The recommended low bid amount is $615,065.00.
