� y <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division and approved by <br /> the Illinois Department of Transportation for the use of Motor Fuel Tax Funds. The project was <br /> advertised on May 7, 2004 and bids were opened on May 28, 2004. The results of the letting are <br /> as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 596,935.00 ----- <br /> GM Sipes Construction, Inc. $ 615,065.00 3.04% <br /> Kinney Contractors, Inc. $ 699,690.00 17.21% <br /> G. M. Sipes is the low bidder for this project. They completed the joint repairs for the City <br /> during the summer of �003 with very good results. Staff recommends G. M. Sipes for this <br /> proj ect. <br /> On March 15, 2004, the City Council authorized the allocation of$600,000 in MFT funds for <br /> concrete pavement joint restoration work. The bids received are in excess of the amount <br /> previously allocated by Council. Staff recommends the allocation of an additional $30,000 in <br /> MFT funds to cover the project and minor contingencies. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution <br /> and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Funding for this project is currently budgeted in the City's Motor Fuel Tax Fund.
