Newell,P.E., City Engineer�,�l <br /> SUBJECT: Kaydon Drive Relief Sewer, City Project 2003-10 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: ' <br /> It is recommended b staff that the Cit Council a rove the attached resolution awardin the <br /> Y Y PP g i <br /> contract for Kaydon Drive Relief Sewer, City Project 2003-10, to HCS Lynch Construction, Inc., ', <br /> as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$34,914.00, and that the Mayor be authorized <br /> to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. ' <br /> BACKGROUND: I <br /> On June 16, 2003, the City Council authorized a contract with BGM Engineering to design a II <br /> relief sewer for the Kaydon Drive area. The purpose of this sewer is to increase the capacity of �, <br /> the main sewer in order to eliminate sewer backups that have plagued area residents. The , <br /> attached location map outlines the proposed project. On October 20, 2003, the City Council I, <br /> authorized a permit with the Norfolk Southern Railroad to allow the proposed relief sewer to be !� <br /> extended under their track. '� <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project �� <br /> was advertised January 8, 2004, and bids were opened on February 5, 2004.
