Newell, City Engineer �vl <br /> SUBJECT: Right of Way Purchase from Holy Cross Lutheran Church <br /> City Project 2002-35, Mound Road/Rt. 51 Intersection Improvements <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the payment <br /> of$23,141.00 for the purchase of right of way totaling approximately 0.075 acres from the Holy <br /> Cross Lutheran Church located at 3778 North Water. The acquisition of this right of way is <br /> necessary for the improvement of the Mound Road / Route 51 intersection which is part of the <br /> improvements needed to accommodate the proposed Target development on the southwest corrner <br /> of the intersection. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On May 27, 2003, the City Council authorized the design of intersection and road way <br /> improvements to accommodate the proposed Target site development. As the design of the <br /> intersection and roadway nears completion, it is necessary to complete the acquisition of right of <br /> way to accommodate the proposed improvements. <br /> The intersection of Mound and Route 51 is being expanded to accommodate two left turn lanes I <br /> in each direction and a new right turn lane on eastbound Mound Road. Mound Road is being I <br /> expanded to a 5-lane cross section adjacent to the proposed Target site. , <br />
