Travis Stanley,E.I.T., Civil Engineer I��� <br /> SUBJECT: Sidewalk Ramp Project, City Project 2003-27 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Sidewalk Ramp Project, City Project 2003-27, to Karnic Construction, as the lowest, <br /> responsible bidder in the amount of$50,905.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the <br /> contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this project is to improve the accessibility of the City's sidewalk system by <br /> installing sidewalk ramps along the City's arterial streets within areas that are eligible for the <br /> expenditure of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. <br /> One of the uses of CDBG funds is to improve the infrastructure in lower income areas of the <br /> City. CDBG funds were budgeted to install sidewalk ramps along the major streets in these <br /> areas. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised September 3 and 10, 2003, and bids were opened on September 23, 2003.
