, ,
The ultimate solution for the area sanitary sewer system, is the construction of a relief sewer
down Shadow Lane that will increase the capacity of the current outfall system that was
originally placed at an improper grade which causes a significant maintenance problem. City
staff approached BGM for a proposal to design the relief sewer.
The proposed agreement includes surveying the proposed relief sewer alignment, designing the
line, preparing plans and project specifications. BGM will make application to the Sanitary
District of Decatur and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for extension of the relief
line.
BGM is a very competent and respected firm in the field of sanitary sewer design and experience
has shown that they will provide an excellent design for the Shadow Lane Relief Sewer. They
have performed numerous sewer related projects for the City in a very satisfactory manner.
BGM is currently studying the Ridgeway sewer system and designing the Kayden Drive Relief
Sewer for the City.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this agreement.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer at 424-2747
The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any
questions of the Council on this item.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Funding for this project will be taken from the Sewer Fund.
