Decatur,City of,Mound School Bodine Project#114675
Phase II Subsurface Investigation Report August 29 2003
On August 2, 2003,the samples were relinquished to PDC Laboratories, Inc. courier
under the Chain of Custody. Samples arrived at the laboratory and were logged into the
laboratory system on August 2, 2003. Pursuant to the Service Agreement, the laboratory
conducted the analysis of the samples for BTEX and PAHs. Bodine received the
laboratory report, with the original Chain of Custody on August 15, 2003, Attachment B.
5.3 Data Review:
Bodine completed a review of the data for samples NSW, SW, EW, WW and WM. All
samples for BTEX and PAH compounds were reported by the laboratory as not detected
at the laboratory reporting limit. The laboratory report, Attachment B, indicates
reporting limits and concentrations far both dry weight and wet weight measurements.
Accordin to re lato idelines sam le results re orted as d wei t are to be used
, rY
g rY P P
to compare to the IEPA TACO SROs. The laboratory reported no data qualifications in
the analysis of the samples.
5.4 Findings & Conclusions:
Based upon review of the laboratory reported concentrations for BTEX and PAH
analysis, Bodine finds that all locations indicate concentrations below the laboratory
reporting limits and, consequently, below the IEPA TACO Tier 1 SRO. There is no
indication that a release has occurred.
Physical observations during installation of the borings appear to indicate the UST was
removed and backfilled with a clayey, silty sand material encountered when advancing
borings. This observation is also supported by the fact that there were no observable vent
and fill pipes remaining.
Bodine appreciates the opportunity to conduct the subsurface investigation.
