COUNCIL MEMORANDUM
#2003-08
April 17, 2003
TO: Honorable Mayor Howley and City Council
FROM: Steve Garman, Manager
Mike Mowen, A sistant City Manager
SUBJECT: City/Park District Radio Agreement
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending approval of an agreement between the City and the Decatur Park District
for the District's use of the City's 800 MHz trunked radio system. The Park District Board
approved the agreement at it's April meeting.
BACKGROUND:
The Park District made a request to the City to add up to one hundred radios to the City's public
safety radio system. The Park District was using a system that was owned and operated by
Barbeck Communications, but that system has recently been sold to a local business, which
prompted the District to request that they be put on the City's system.
There are no other cost effective 800 MHz trucked radio systems in the Decatur area.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION:
There are no known objectors to this agreement.
