, .
,
AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES
FOR THE
CITY OF DECATUR
KAYDON DRIVE - IMBODEN DRIVE SANITARY EWER STUDY
TffiS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this day of 2002, by and
between the CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS, hereinafter re ed t the "CIT'Y," and
BAINBRIDGE, GEE, MILANSHI & ASSOCIATES, INC., 1670 S th Taylorville Road,
Decatur, Illinois 62521, hereinafter referred to as the "ENGINEER," covers professional
I engineering services in connection with the preparation of a sewer infiltration and inflow study
hereinafter refened to as the "PROJECT".
Said Project has been designated CITY PROJECT and includes the study of excess flow
in a part ofthe South Shores Neighborhood which sewers are tributary to manhole at the intersection
of Medial Drive and Medial Court.
THEREFORE, in consideration of these premises and of the mutual covenants herein set forth:
THE ENGINEER AGREES:
1. To perform the following engineering services in a phased approach.
a. Conduct flow and level monitoring of 4 key manholes to determine dry and wet
weather flows. The flow meters sha11 be furnished by others.
b. Record rainfall over the flow monitoring period to correlate increases in sewer flow
with wet weather.
c. Smoke test the sewers in the study area to locate inflow points.
d. Estimate base line flow, peak infiltration rates and peak inflow rates.
e. Calculate sewer capacity form City records.
f. Review the recent videotapes of the sewers and summarize the condition of the
sewers.
g. If found to be needed, estimate the cost of a sewer rehabilitation progam and project
the reduction in infiltration and inflow.
h. Compare the cost of UI removal to the cost of transporting and treating the added
flow at the sewage treatment plant. The transport and treat alternative will include
ways to increase sewer capacity.
i. Summarize our findings in a short report and recommend a program to eliminate
sewer backups in the study area.
BGM 02-059 ENG AGREE - 1
