The fourth item is the addition of a backflow valve to the foundation drain of the pump vault.
This is an added precaution to prevent the backup of water into the pump vault should the
storm sewer system backup. This is considered to be a needed device to protect the pumping
system. The cost for this additional item and the related work is $2,586.00.
These changes have either been completed or will be completed and will not impact the project '
schedule which has the fountain and associated improvements being done prior to the Decatur
Celebration.
The table (attached) summarizing the estimated cost to complete the fountain has been
updated to reflect this change order. At this time, the final estimated cost for the fountain, its
related improvements and the professional services is, rounded off, $570,000 which is
approximately$30,000 less than originally estimated at the projecYs beginning.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION:
There are no known objectors to this action.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
John Ligon of Architectural Expressions.
STAFF REFERENCE:
Steve Swanson, Director of Engineering & Infrastructure at 424-2747.
The Director of Engineering & Infrastructure, Steve Swanson, will be in attendance at the City
Council meeting to respond to questions on this matter.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
The City's share for the cost of the new fountain is budgeted in Capital Fund in FY 02 - 03.
attach: 1
cc: A.
