Johnston, Manager, MIS Division��' <br /> SUBJECT: Information Systems Vendor Selection <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached <br /> RECOMMENDATION: resolution, authorizing the City Manager to execute the attached <br /> contract with Group 1 Resources, Incorporated, for software <br /> vendor selection services. <br /> BACKGROUND: Based on the consultanYs report of the need for integrated general <br /> government software applications (provided to City Council under <br /> separate cover), the City will require professional assistance in <br /> software vendor selection. The consultant that conducted the <br /> Information Technology (IT) Study for the City, Group 1 Resources, <br /> Incorporated, possesses the expertise to provide this service. It is <br /> therefore recommended that this firm be retained for the follow up <br /> process of vendor selection. <br /> The result of the work plan in the attached contract will be to <br /> provide the City with one vendor who will be able to best meet the <br /> needs for general government software applications for the City's <br /> varied business processes. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTORS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER By RFQ for the IT Study, 12 firms presented their consulting <br /> SOURCES: qualifications. Of the 12 that did so, Group 1 Resources, Inc. was <br /> judged to be fully technically qualified and well experienced for this <br /> effort. Reference checks (i.e., Cities of Normal, Rock Island, <br /> Rockford, Evanston, and Bloomingdale) were all positive. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Michael Mowen, Assistant City Manager (424-2802); Gerard J. <br /> Bauer, Management Services Director (424-2805); David S. <br /> Johnston, MIS Manager (424-2703) <br />
