It was then asked if the City <br /> would consider the jurisdictional transfer of the streets when the work was completed. City staff <br /> responded that if the overlay was completed subject to City review and observation to ensure the <br /> quality of the work, that City staff would recommend to the City Council that the City assume <br /> the ownership and maintenance of the streets. <br /> The County provided the City the opportunity to review the plans before the work was started, ' <br /> observe the work while it was being done and make a final observation of the completed work. I <br /> The County completed the overlay of the streets last summer and has forwarded to the City the ' <br /> jurisdictional transfer form (copy attached) for the City to execute. Those items noted by the <br /> City staff in its final observation have been corrected by the County. The Department of <br /> Engineering & Infrastructure can recommend to the City Council that the City assume the <br /> ownership and maintenance responsibility of MacArthur Road between Pershing Road and <br /> Mound Road and Monroe Street between McKinley Avenue to Pershing Road. <br /> The agreement, after it has been executed by Macon County and the City, is subject to the review <br /> and approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> There are no known objectors to this action. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Input on this matter was coordinated with and obtained from Bruce Bird, Macon County <br /> Engineer. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Stephen Swanson, Director of Engineering & Infrastructure, will be in attendance at the City <br /> Council meeting to respond to questions about this item or can be contacted in advance of the <br /> meeting at 424-2747. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> There is no direct cost to the City at this time.
