Attachment 1 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> CITY OF DECATUR,ILLINOIS <br /> LAKE DECATUR DAM REHABILITATION PROJECT <br /> ENGINEERING SERVICES DURING CONSTRUCTION <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES AND SCHEDULE <br /> GENERAL <br /> In December 1999,MWH(formerly Harza Engineering Company)performed an inspection of <br /> the Lake Decatur Dam and prepared an inspection report containing recommendations for <br /> remedial measures. The City of Decatur contracted with MWH to prepare plans and <br /> specifications to implement the proposed remedial measures recommended in the 1999 report. <br /> The proposed remedial measures include: 1) rehabilitation of deteriorated concrete on the <br /> upstream face of the dam,2)rehabilitation of concrete and joints on the downstream face of the <br /> dam,3)restoration of erosion protection along the banks of the river channel downstream of the <br /> dam and at the toe of the concrete spillway apron,and 4)miscellaneous appurtenant work. The <br /> plans and specifications were prepared and the documents were issued for bid in August 2001. <br /> The City received bids for construction in September 2001. The City awarded the construction <br /> contract in September 2001 with work scheduled to begin in late September. The work is �, <br /> expected to be completed by mid-December 2001. ' <br /> The City has re uested that MWH rovide a sco e of services and estimated bud et to rovide I <br /> 9 P P g P <br /> engineering services during construction, with the proposal structured to be flexible in the <br /> amount of support provided to the City. This scope of services is based on discussions between <br /> the City of Decatur and MWH with the intent of ineeting the City's needs and request for <br /> flexibility. <br /> WORK PLAN/TASK DESCRIPTION <br /> Task 1 —Office Support During Construction <br /> MWH will provide office support of construction activities during the period of construction on <br /> an"as-requested"basis. We anticipate that these services will include review of shop drawings <br /> and technical submittals prepared by the Contractor, and response to technical questions that <br /> arise during construction. Contract administration (pay requests and the like) will be handled <br /> primarily by the City,with support from MWH as requested by the City. We have budgeted 40 <br /> hours for this effort. <br /> We have budgeted 40 hours for reviewing change order requests from the Contractor.
