i <br /> P <br /> , ` <br /> ' I <br /> , + <br /> Page 2 'I <br /> Originally, it was determined that extending a storm water line from the Albany/Fulton area to a <br /> Baltimore Avenue outfall located south of Fitzgerald Road would be cost prohibitive and was <br /> therefore not enthusiastically pursued. The proposed Fitzgerald Road improvement project <br /> contains a significant amount of storm drainage work that outfalls into an existing drainage way <br /> on Baltimore Avenue. With the necessity of rebuilding Fitzgerald Road and the storm drainage <br /> work that is necessary as part of that project, it is an excellent opportunity to combine the storm <br /> drainage work and expand the drainage area served by both projects. This alternative will largely <br /> skirt the necessity of acquiring additional easements and will make the storm outfall more legally <br /> defensible in terms of adhering more closely to the City's storm drainage master plan. <br /> BWC will provide additional design services to incorporate the two storm sewer projects and to <br /> design the proposed Fitzgerald Road storm sewer to accept the storm runoff from the Albany / <br /> Fulton area and the Fitzgerald/Baltimore Avenue area. <br /> The ultimate intent is to begin construction of the proposed storm sewer system in February - <br /> March of 2002 and proceed with the proposed Fitzgerald Road improvements in April - May of <br /> 2002. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution <br /> and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Matt Newell will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the <br /> Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> The additional funding for this proj ect is for an amount not to exceed $27,100 and is currently <br /> budgeted in the City's General Fund. <br /> The design work will begin immediately and should be completed within 4 months. <br /> attach: 2 <br /> cc: John Smith, Assistant City Manager of Public Services <br /> Robert M.
