The Federal Transit
Administration(FTA)requires that these vehicles be inspected at
the manufacturing plant, during construction. The entire cost of
the inspections will be paid with grant funds provided by FTA and
the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Sealed bids for this contract were opened on June 8th. As shown
in the attached bid summary, the bidders were judged on the
amount of their bid and on their qualifications to perform the work.
Transit Resource Center was found to have the lowest bid, and to
be the most qualified bidder. Staff has contacted the references
provided and found that previous clients were very satisfied with
the firm's work.
The alternative to this contract would be to send a staff inember to
the manufacturer's facility in California. The staff person would
need to make two trips to California and to stay there for up to five
weeks. It appears that it is more efficient and cost effective to
contract this work with a firm that has done this work in the past,
and is familiar with the Gillig Corporation's production line.
POTENTIAL No known objection to this Agreement.
OBJECTION:
INPUT FROM None
OTHER SOURCES:
STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator
BUDGET/TIME 100%of the cost of this contract will be paid with grant funds
IMPLICATIONS: provided by the Federal Transit Administration and the Illinois
Department of Transportation. No City funds are required.
