Kriege sistant City Manager�t <br /> SUBJECT: 300 North W ter Demolition Engineering � <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Approval of the attached resolution will authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with <br /> Blank, Wesselink, Cook and Associates (BWC)for engineering services as part of the demolition <br /> of the east side of 300 N. Water; Phase 1 TIF redevelopment project. The contract is written for <br /> a not to exceed amount of$40,000. City staff recommends approval. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> As Council is aware the City has purchased the east side of the 300 block of North Water to <br /> accommodate Phase 1 of downtown redevelopment. The attached agreement with BWC is for <br /> the provision of asbestos abatement and general demolition engineering services; including the <br /> preparation of bid packets for both demolition phases. BWC will also serve as the City's on-site <br /> representative during the asbestos abatement and general demolition, performing general <br /> oversight and monitoring(including air quality)functions. <br /> On or about the first meeting in July, City staff will be presenting a contract for actual asbestos <br /> abatement, to be followed by a contract for general demolition. It is expected that all demolition <br /> activities will be completed in time to allow for meaningful redevelopment activity to begin this <br /> Fall. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> City staff is not aware of any opposition to this redevelopment work. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Attached to this memorandum are BWC's proposal, and a demolition project timeline which <br /> details the time required for each phase. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> If Council members have questions they may contact A.J.
