Alexander, Director of Water Management � /� <br /> tt <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> South Elevated Water Storage Tank, City Project 9735 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends Council approval of the proposed Engineering Design Services Agreement <br /> with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski & Associates, at a cost not to exceed $69,500. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> At times, the South Shores area of the City experiences low water pressure due to: <br /> 1. The current design of the water distribution system, and <br /> 2. Extremely brief electrical power outages at the South Water Treatment Plant due to <br />' interruptions of service provided by Illinois Power. <br /> The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, which regulates public water supplies, has <br />� requested that the City address these low water pressure situations. The construction of a new <br /> , <br /> � ri i <br /> elevated water storage tank m the south or southwest area of the City s water dist but on system <br /> is the most practical approach to address these concerns. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> The location of the tank, which will be determined during this project, may become a concern of <br /> those potentially impacted. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Strand Associates - consulting engineering firm <br /> Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski and Associates - consulting engineering firm <br /> Illinois Environmental Protection Agency <br /> Numerous City staff <br />
