< I
Mass Transit Memorandum
No. 031301-1 page 2 ,
INPUT FROM Dan Homann - Blank, Wesselink, Cook and Associates
OTHER SOURCES: Randy Henderson- Associated Constructors, L.G.C.
Nancy Stwora, Project Manager- Illinois Dept. of Transportation I
STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator i,
BUDGET/TIME BWC estimated that the cost to construct the facility would be
IMPLICATIONS: about $1,100,000, and that it would take 9 months to construct.
The low bid on this project was $1,385,000, with an estimated
construction period of 10 months. The cost of the project can be
reduced significantly by deleting unnecessary items and by
substituting less expensive materials, without harming the
appearance and value of the project. Even with cost reductions,
additional federal funding will be necessary. If state matching
funds are used, the start of construction will be delayed at least 3 to
4 months. If only local matching funds are used, construction can
begin in April and could be completed in February, 2002.
