E., City Engineer,�,i,4/( <br /> �„_ � <br /> SUBJECT: One Hour Parking Zone on 16th Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> At the February 11, 2004 meeting of the City's Traffic and Parking Commission, the <br /> Commission voted to recommend that the City Council establish a one hour parking zone on <br /> South 16th Street between East Riverside and East Dickinson Streets for the hour of 2:30 — 3:30 <br /> p.m. on days when school is in session. <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Ordinance. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This request was initiated by the Decatur Police Department as a result of parents needing to <br /> park on 16th Street to pick up students at the conclusion of school. Similar parking situations <br /> exist at other schools in the City that are adjacent to heavily traveled streets. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this request. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br />
