8. A deletion in the Off Street Parking and Loading Requirements section is "Where a 90
degree parking space is terminated by a curb, a 1.5 foot overhang is permitted and the
depth of the parking space may be reduced thereby. However, if a sidewalk is provided I
adjacent to the curb, it shall be designed so that there is a minimum clear sidewalk width
of four (4) feet exclusive of the vehicle overhang." This regulation appeared in the
previous ordinance when the minimum depth of a parking stall was 20 feet, in the current ,
ordinance (Ordinance #3512) the minimum depth of a parking stall is 18 feet. Allowing a ,
reduction in the depth of a parking stall to less than 18 feet presents a traffic safety '
hazard.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no objectors to these amendments at the Plan
Commission meeting.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Suzan Stickle at 424-
2781 or at smstickle(cdecaturnet.org.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: NONE
