, r
The Wabash Crossing redevelopment involves a significant amount of construction that requires
structural fill and various other materials to be trucked in from long distances. The developer,
Eastlake, has requested the increased weight and size designation for Wabash Crossing area
streets and the major streets accessing the redevelopment in order to provide for a more efficient
delivery of materials to the site.
The allowance for increased truck weight and size would greatly benefit the ongoing work and
should have no significant impact to the safety of the City streets serving the area. Many of the
streets to be designated are wholly within the construction area.
It is staff's intention that the Class II truck routes be rescinded upon completion of the
construction work.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this request.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Decatur Traffic and Parking Commission
STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747
The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any
questions of the Council on this item.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
Class II truck route signs have been temporarily installed under a 90 day order from the Police
Chief.
