E., City Engineer `w�r�( <br /> SUBJECT: Designating the Streets Accessing the Wabash Crossing <br /> Redevelopment Area as Class II Truck Routes <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> At it's November 2003 meeting, the City's Traffic and Parking Commission voted to recommend <br /> to the City Council that the following streets be temporarily added to the City's Class II truck <br /> route system in order to facilitate the redevelopment work underway on Wabash Crossing: <br /> North—South Streets: <br /> Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive between Eldorado Street and Grand Avenue <br /> Warren Street between Marietta Street and Grand Avenue <br /> Morgan Street between Condit Street and Grand Avenue <br /> Clinton Street between Condit Street and Grand Avenue <br /> East—West Streets: <br /> Grand Avenue between Main Street and Clinton Street <br /> Leafland Avenue between Warren Street and Clinton Street <br /> Condit Street between Warren Street and Clinton Street <br /> Orchard Street between Warren Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive <br /> Marietta Street between Warren Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached Ordinance designating the above <br /> streets as a Class II truck routes. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> In accordance with State law, unless otherwise prohibited, City streets allow access for trucks up <br /> to 73,280 lbs. in weight distributed over 5 axles. Designation as a Class II truck route increases <br /> the allowable weight to 80,000 lbs. along with some size increases to the truck. i <br />
