-
EXCERPTS OF THE
MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION
Wednesday, July 9, 2003
Engineering Conference Room
Second Floor, Civic Center
ITEM # 1 . Request for stop signs at the intersection of 24th and Main Streets
Mr. Newell opened the meeting stating that the City had received a request from a concerned
citizen asking that stop signs be installed at the intersection of 24th and Main Streets. This
intersection has experie.nced a higher number of accidents than what is expected of an
intersection with this traffic volume. There have been two recorded accidents at the subject
intersection over the past three years, one of which is potentially correctable with stop signs.
This intersection is experiencing more accidents than would normally be expected. The
predominant traffic flow is from the east and the north. Staff recommen,ds that stop signs be 'i
installed facing north and south. Battalion Chief Gillen made a motion that stop signs be posted I
and Don Wenneker seconded. There was no opposition to this motion.
1
