Convert the east treatment train primary and secondary clarifiers to 71'-6" diameter, single
stage helical upflow lime softening clarifiers within the same footprint as the existing
clarifiers. Modify piping as required for new clarifiers.
B. Add anionic polymer chemical storage and feed system/piping for the east treatment train
clarifiers.
C. Modify the existing lime feed system to allow pumping of lime individually to both of the
converted east treatment train clarifiers.
D. Allow for sequencing such that the west treatment train primary and secondary clarifiers
remain online and operational during the east treatment train conversion. Provide flow
splitting/diversion structures and piping that will be required to accomplish this sequencing
and allow long-term operational resilience.
E. Evaluate the existing clarifier sludge pumps. It is assumed that the pumps may need to be
replaced. These same pumps will also be used for dewatering of the clarifiers.
DESIGN PHASE SERVICES
The Scope of Services for the City of Decatur Clarifier Conversion Project, East Treatment
Train design services shall consist of the following tasks:
1. Review existing background information. Review existing plans and reports relevant
to the project design.
2. Site Visits. Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and obtain information
required for design.
3. Project Kickoff Meeting. Conduct a project kickoff ineeting at the Decatur water
treatment plant with client and CMT staff. In addition to the Project Manager other staff
at the meeting will include process mechanical, mechanical, structural and electrical staff
as necessary.
4. Field Surveying
a. Utilize horizontal and vertical control based on information from the 1985 B & V
project.
b. Complete topographic survey of the project site as required for project.
c. Point processing and generate AutoCAD C3D drawing for the survey limits
d. QA/QC - field visit to spot check survey data.
e. Conduct 3D laser surveying in piping tunnels.
A1
