S wart, Transportation Planne�� <br /> SUBJECT: Request for a Conditional Use Permit in to operate a licensed large home daycare <br /> facility <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the petition as proposed with <br /> the following conditions: 1.) The operation shall be limited to twelve children; 2.) A <br /> drop-off/pick-up area shall be provided along North Gulick; 3.) The proposed operation shall be in <br /> compliance with applicable provisions of the City's adopted Building Codes; 4.) The proposed <br /> daycare shall be at all times appropriately licensed by the State of Illinois; 5.) The State Fire <br /> Marshall shall be contacted regarding a field inspection; 6.) A vented hood system will be required <br /> for cooking facilities; and 7.) Fence repair along with a secured entrance from the alleyway will be <br /> required. If operated as above, staff feels that the facility is compatible with the surrounding uses in <br /> the area and would not have a negative effect on property values and marketability of the <br /> surrounding properties in the area. <br /> BACKGROUND: The subject petition requests a conditional use permit to allow the operation of a <br /> licensed large home daycare facility. The daycare would accommodate a maximum of twelve , <br /> children. A day care home where more than three (3) children are cared for requires a conditional <br /> use permit. <br /> The petitioner's drop off and pick up area will be in front of her house along North Gulick. The ', <br /> petitioner intends to request a drop off area from the Parking and Traffic Commission. The entire I <br /> rear yard is fenced except the area between the house and the garage; a fence with a gate will be � <br /> installed at this location. The petitioner proposes to open her daycare facility in January 2003. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objectors to this petition. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The City Plan Commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval <br /> of this petition at the October 3, 2002 hearing, subject to the conditions listed above.
