(1) The 2002 edition of the National Fire Protection Association <br /> will be the accepted code for all electrical wiring installations, provided that <br /> Article 210.52 (C)(2) and(3) shall be optional. <br /> (3) Whenever a new service is installed, the electric meter shall <br /> be located on the outside of the building unless written approval from the local <br /> utility company and the City Building Inspections Division is obtained. <br /> (6) Where emergency lighting is required, battery back-up type <br /> fixtures shall be used to provide lighting for exiting. This shall be required in <br /> all installations including buildings supplied with alternate power supply such <br /> as generators or separate services. <br /> B. Existing buildings: <br /> (1)(c) Whenever a new service is installed, the electric <br /> meter shall be located on the outside of the building unless written approval <br /> from the local utility company and the City Inspections Division is obtained. <br /> (1)(d) Whenever construction remodeling calls for walls <br /> or ceilings (including suspended ceilings) to be opened up, all wiring, boxes, <br /> conduit, etc. Exposed by this work shall be in accordance with the code at the <br /> time of installation or be brought up to current code standards. <br /> (2)(a) Whenever a new service is installed, the electrical <br /> meter shall be located on the outside of the building unless written approval <br /> from the local utility company and the City Inspections Division is obtained. <br /> All smoke alarrns shall be installed in accordance with 42S ILCS 60, the <br /> smoke Detector Act. <br /> 11. SE�VIC� C�NNECTIONS. The local utility company may <br /> connect the electri�al s�rvice tn the structure when the service is installed <br /> permanently on the structure and upon order of the Inspections Division. <br /> Where services have been damaged ciue to weather conditions, a permit and <br /> inspection will be necessary only when new conductors are being installed. <br /> Such inspections will be of the electrical service�nly. <br />
