(1) The 2002 edition of the National Fire Protection Association will be the accepted code for all electrical wiring installations, provided that Article 210.52 (C)(2) and(3) shall be optional. (3) Whenever a new service is installed, the electric meter shall be located on the outside of the building unless written approval from the local utility company and the City Building Inspections Division is obtained. (6) Where emergency lighting is required, battery back-up type fixtures shall be used to provide lighting for exiting. This shall be required in all installations including buildings supplied with alternate power supply such as generators or separate services. B. Existing buildings: (1)(c) Whenever a new service is installed, the electric meter shall be located on the outside of the building unless written approval from the local utility company and the City Inspections Division is obtained. (1)(d) Whenever construction remodeling calls for walls or ceilings (including suspended ceilings) to be opened up, all wiring, boxes, conduit, etc. Exposed by this work shall be in accordance with the code at the time of installation or be brought up to current code standards. (2)(a) Whenever a new service is installed, the electrical meter shall be located on the outside of the building unless written approval from the local utility company and the City Inspections Division is obtained. All smoke alarrns shall be installed in accordance with 42S ILCS 60, the smoke Detector Act. 11. SE�VIC� C�NNECTIONS. The local utility company may connect the electri�al s�rvice tn the structure when the service is installed permanently on the structure and upon order of the Inspections Division. Where services have been damaged ciue to weather conditions, a permit and inspection will be necessary only when new conductors are being installed. Such inspections will be of the electrical service�nly.
