Page 2
Memo re: Rezoning 2071 and 2117 East Damon Avenue from R-2 Single Family Residence
District to B-2 Commercial District
February 14, 2002
The petitioner is proposing the rezoning of the above mentioned addresses to enable the
expansion of the existing customer and employee parking areas and to construct a new product
storage yard in order to meet the needs of his expanding business. Currently, the main parking
area for the World of Power Sports is on the east side facing 22nd Street. To accommodate this
expansion, the petitioner proposes paving portions of lots 32 and 31. The petitioner also
proposes to demolish the structures on lot 32.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: Mr. Ed Flynn represented property owners at the vicinity of the
World of Power Sports business at the City Plan Commission hearing. He articulated the
concern of the neighbars regarding the expansion of the business and noise and dust generated '
from possible use of the proposed parking lot or adjacent geen space as a vehicle testing area. i
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The City Plan Commission voted 9-0 to recommend
approval of the amended petition at the February 5, 2003 hearing. Minutes of the meeting are
attached.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Hala Ahmed at
424-2798 or hahmed@decturnet.org.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: N/A
