Mr. Ron Bechtel, 2610 Carolyn, was present and spoke against the petition stating that the <br /> residents have put up with Adolf Meyer in the area and now the prison and its lights. He stated <br /> that there are more acceptable locations elsewhere. <br /> Greg and Tawnya Ricker, 2666 Carolyn, were present and spoke against the petition stating that <br /> they feel it is safe for their five year old to play in this area and that is why they moved there. <br /> They object to the route and losing part of their yard. <br /> Mr. Chris Rush, 2699 Carolyn, was present and spoke against the petition stating that he is <br /> concerned with the widening of the road and traffic coming off of Greenswitch. I <br /> Ms. Nancy Rostek was present and spoke against the petition stating that her mother lives on this ! <br /> street and has 30 grandchildren that come over to play. She stated that there is a better place for <br /> the shelter to be. <br /> Ms. Kim Woodruff, 2626 Carolyn, was present and spoke against the petition stating that she has <br /> lived in this area since she was five years old. She expressed concern with how far the road will <br /> come into her yard. <br /> Mr. Donovan stated that the road would be widened to 20 feet from 15 feet as indicated by the <br /> Road Commissioner. The County does not have jurisdiction over the width of the road. There <br /> will be five to ten feet of widening on public property; no private property will be used. <br /> Mr. Causey stated that it is the intention to have ground level lighting. There would not be <br /> lighting at the roof. There will be landscaping. He stated that he understood the concern of the <br /> residents. There would not be a great deal of traffic or high speed traffic. <br /> Mr. Donovan stated that animals can only be retrieved during the day. It is a priority of the <br /> shelter to have the animals adopted. Vicious animals can be dropped off at any time. It is <br /> anticipated there would be four to five vehicles an hour. <br /> Mr. Van Steenhuyse reported that the City's requirement is for the roadway to be 24 feet wide. <br /> There is 60 feet of right of way on this road. The width of 24 feet can be centered and no private <br /> property taken. <br /> Mr. Schiller asked if there is any other feasible way to get to the property and Mr. Donovan <br /> answered no. <br /> Mr. John asked if there is residential development to the north could access be moved from <br /> Carolyn to a drive to the north. Mr. Donovan stated that the County is not aware of any plans for <br /> development. The County has a farmland protection ordinance on file. <br /> Mr. John asked if the land is platted later would there be a problem with shifting access. Mr. <br /> Donovan stated that option could be considered. <br />
