Mr. John stated that he would like to see language in the Special Use Permit to state that the
existing woodland buffer be maintained.
Mr. Owen stated that some of the Board members preferred and Mound Road access which
would cost an extra $150,000 plus building a bridge and bring the road level up above flood plain.
The woods would be destroyed with that option and the prison is not interested in allowing
access.
It was moved and seconded (John/Setina) to forward CaL No. 01-21 to City Council with
recommendation for approval per staff recommendation and the provision that the Special Use
Permit provide for maintenance of the woodland buffer on the east property line. Motion carried
with six yea votes and one nay vote. Those Commissioners voting yea: Schiller, Clevenger, John,
Peck, Setina and Shampine. Commissioner Smith voted nay.
