Krieger, ssistant City Manager t'
Steve VanStee uyse,Pl ing Man
Dane C. Bragg, Planne
SUBJECT: Rezoning 1099 West Wood Street from R-6 to B-2
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the petition as proposed.
The subject property is within the proposed West Town Square redevelopment project, approved
by City Council in December, 2000.
BACKGROUND: Upon administrative review of rezonings approved by the City Council
during calendar year 2000, it was found that the original parking lot area of the Blue Mill
restaurant was zoned R-6, Multiple Dwelling District. To bring the subject property into
compliance with the approved Planned Unit Development, staff has initiated the rezoning of the
property to B-2, Commercial District. The proposed rezoning is generally consistent with the
goals of the Decatur Urban Area Land Use Plan and the Olde Towne Redevelopment Plan for the
newly created TIF district. The subject site contains 39,020 square feet(0.90 acres) and is served
by city water and sanitary sewer services. Construction has begun on the redevelopment project
and is scheduled for completion in Fall, 2001.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objectors to this petition.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The City Plan Commission voted unanimously to
recommend approval of this petition at the May 10, 2001 hearing. Minutes of the meeting axe
attached.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Dane Bragg at
424-2781.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None
