Newell, P.E., City Engineer��,�',�/ <br /> SUBJECT: IDOT Joint Agreement: <br /> Improvement of U.S. Route 51 Business and IL 105 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: I <br /> An item on the agenda for the March 19, 2001, City Council meeting is an agreement between <br /> the City of Decatur and the State of Illinois covering the proposed improvement of U.S. Route 51 ! <br /> (Business) on the south side of the City. � <br /> It is recominended by staff that the City Council approve the attached ordinances on: parking j <br /> restrictions within the project area, prohibiting the release of waste water into storm sewers; and '� <br /> regulating encroachments into the public right-of-way; along with the attached resolution ! <br /> approving Agreement No. JN-500004 with the State of Illinois acting through its Department of i <br /> Transportation. I <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) plans to reconstruct and resurface U.S. Route <br /> 51 (Business) between Lincoln Park Road and the FAP 412 interchange near Elwin. Included <br /> with this project will be geometric work at Medial Drive / Rt. 51, Imboden Drive / Rt. 51 along <br /> with some resurfacing of IL 105 (Lake Shore Drive) through the interchange. Traffic signals will <br /> be installed at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Lake Shore Drive along with <br /> signal reconstruction at the intersections of South Side Drive/Rt. 51 and First Drive/Rt. 51. <br />
