Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of October 7, 1999
Cal. No. 99-62 Petition of CECIL A. COLLINS, JR., DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT, to rezone the premises at 99 Borchers Corner from
R-1 Single Family Residence District to B-2 Commercial District.
Mr. Forgey presented the recommendation of staff:
The subject petition requests the rezoning of the premises at 1190 South Side Drive (99 Borchers
Corner) from R-1 Single Family Residence District to B-2 Commercial District. The 0.43 acre
site is currently developed as a tavern. The area is surrounded by B-2 zoning on all sides. The
rezoning of the parcel is a logical eension of the current B-2 zone.
The subject site is currently being annexed to the City of Decatur as part of a plan to annex areas
wholly surrounded by the city but not within its corporate limits. The Department of Community
Development has initiated a rezoning to bring the lot into conformance with the Zoning Ordinance
upon annexation. The site is located in an area with substantial commercial development and
fronts a state highway. The 1990 Comprehensive Land Use Plan shows this area being developed
commercially.
Staff recommends approval of the petition as submitted.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded (John/Setina) to forward Cal. No. 99-62 to City Council with
recommendation for approval. Motion carried unanimously.
