Item Coversheet Page 1 of 1 <br /> �m <br /> Police Department <br /> DATE: 2/10/2016 <br /> MEMO: 16-15 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe <br /> Decatur Ciry Council Members <br /> FROM: Timothy A.Gleason,City Manager <br /> James E.Getz,Interim Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Digital Ticket Program <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: The Decatur Police Department requests to join with the Macon County Circuit Clerk, <br /> Macon County Sheriff's Department and the Mt.Zion Police Department to implement a Digital Ticket Process,while sharing the <br /> costs. <br /> BACKGROUND:The Macon County Circuit Clerk entered into an agreement with Saltus Technologies which is one of the two <br /> companies approved by the State of Illinois to be a vendor to law enforcement for digital tickets.By partnering with the other <br /> agencies,the cost of this program to the City is reduced. This system will allow officers to complete city ordinance arrests and <br /> traffic and vehicle stop studies required by the State of Illinois.Utilizing the"DigiTicket"will reduce human error when issuing <br /> citations and making city ordinance arrests.This program will likely reduce approximately eight hours per week of data entry by <br /> the Decatur Police Department's Records Unit personnel. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: James E.Getz Jr.,Interim Chief of Police,424-2768,jgetz@decaturil.gov <br /> BUDGET/T'IME IMPLICATIONS: The Macon County Circuit Clerk entered into an agreement with Saltus Technologies for <br /> Digital Tickets.The total cost of the agreement is$60,329.00.
