Newell asked that the parking issued be determined now and the meter question can be addressed i
at a later date, since it will only bog down the debate.
Spangler sees no problem in having a two-hour time limit and forgetting about the meter issue.
Nordholm added that many employees park downtown in the open spaces and that is the reason
meters are needed.
Ballard agrees with Spangler. He believes there are several other issues pertaining to this item.
When K's Merchandise was on this block, he spoke with several store managers, and they said
that parking was a problem in the downtown area in general, and that is why they moved away
from the downtown area. Parking was changed last month on Merchant Street. If the
Commission can do anything to help the businesses in the community, it should be done. He is
in favor of the Staff recommendation.
It was moved and seconded (Ryan / Spangler) to accept staff recommendation that parking time
limits on Water Street between North and William Streets be changed from 30 minutes to two
hours. There being no one opposed, the motion carried.
