Page 2—Petition for Rezoning <br /> The purpose of the proposed rezoning is: to seek a special use permit throuqh the <br /> Planned Unit Development process. <br /> In support of this request, petitioner hereby submits to the City Plan Commission and City Council <br /> the following facts: <br /> The petitioner in association with the Decatur Park District has committed to the <br /> • construction of a 87,000 square foot, two storv indoor sports center for the use bv the <br /> citizens of Decatur and students and facultv of Millikin Universitv (see drawinqs attached <br /> as Exhibit"B"). The petitioner is in the process of acquirinq additional land in the finro <br /> block area bound bv Wood Street and Decatur Street to the north and south and the <br /> railroad tracks and Fairview Avenue to the east and west. The intent is to vacate Macon <br /> Street from Fairview Avenue to the railroad tracks and develop this area with outdoor <br /> sports fields to complement the indoor center.
