Jim Sober echoes everything that has been said. He has lived in the area and is very familiar with
the neighborhood. He would like the Commission to also look at the next intersection on
McClellan, which is almost the same situation.
Fire Captain Terry Brown did not think the stop sign was warranted because of the statistics, but
now he believes it might be. His concern is for the residents in the neighborhood who may have
to stop two blocks in a row. He asked if anyone down the road also asked for this.
Tom Frazier stated that those contacted were not opposed to this addition. The neighborhood
group decided that stopping two blocks in a row was not a problem.
Brown would be in favor of adding the stop sign.
Nordholm would also agree with the residents that a all-way stop is in order. One of the things
that the Commission has learned is that putting a stop sign up does not solve all problems, but can
instead cause problems. He would support the request for an a11-way stop.
It was moved and seconded (Moore / Spanler) that stop signs be added as requested by the
residents in the area. Upon vote on the motion there were six ayes and one nay (Newell). The
motion carried.
Newell will send this item to City Council. The residents can be at the meeting to address the
Council if they so desire, and he will let them know the meetin date.
