McQueen, Senior Planner (�"'1 <br /> SUBJECT: Communications Tower, 1595 North Calhoun Street <br /> A request for land use approval regarding construction and operation of a free standing 150 foot <br /> high communications tower and accessory equipment building at 1595 North Calhoun Street is <br /> scheduled for review and action by the City Council on Monday, September 15, 1997. The <br /> proposed construction site is on property presently occupied by Woare Builders Supply <br /> Company; it is zoned M-2 Heavy Industrial District. <br /> In accordance with applicable provisions of the M-2 zoning classification, the proposed tower and I, <br /> accessory building are permitted uses therein provided the individual site is approved by the City I <br /> Council after review and report by the Building Inspector and Fire Chief; these individuals have , <br /> reviewed the proposal and find it acceptable. �I <br />� The petitioner has submitted lans settin forth the ro osed location and construction of the <br /> P g P P <br /> tower and accessory building. The surrounding area is all zoned industrial; there are no residential <br /> structures near the subject site. A fall zone would be on adjoining railroad property or property <br /> of the e�sting builders supply company as noted. <br /> Staff recommends appoval of the proposed ordinance as submitted, which includes specific <br /> language regarding maximum tower height, type of construction, fencing, removal of ladder rungs <br /> on the tower, and submission of construction plans prior to issuance of a building permit. <br />
