,- . , . ' .
Page 2
Advantages:
• Increases private dock access to the Lake.
• Potentially increases some property values and property tax revenues at locations near
the neighborhood boat docks.
Disadvantages:
• Adjacent homeowner concerns - encroachment, noise, lack of parking, litter, possible
decrease in property value.
• Persons other than neighborhood residents use the docks. These include friends, other
boat owners, etc. There is no effective way to control this type of use.
Recently, City Staff has reviewed this issue, taking into account neighborhood boat dock
user and adjacent homeowner concerns. Our recommendations are:
1. Requests for new neighborhood boat docks be denied.
2. Renewals for existing neighborhood boat docks be approved only if the number of boat
spaces does not exceed the number of boat spaces permitted in 1996.
3. In order to implement the above recommendations, Crty Code Chapter 66, Regulation of
Lake Decatur, Section 48(n)be amended per the attached ordinance.
These changes are reflected in the attached revisions to Chapter 66 of the City Code, which
were discussed at the Apri128 study session meeting. Staff recommends approval of the attached
resolution.
attach. 2
I
