Baltimore and Fitzgerald
The County has approached Newell about installing a four-way stop at the corner of Baltimore
and Fitzgerald, where there are presently stop signs for Fitzgerald traffic only. The City has
jurisdiction over the north and west legs of the intersection; the County and Long Creek
Township have jurisdiction over the south and east legs. The volumes are running about 1700
cars per day on Fitzgerald and 2500 per day on Baltimore. Speeds are in the 45 mph range on
Baltimore. Because of the number of accidents at this intersection, Newell recommends that the
City and County be allowed to install stop signs on Baltimore. The stop signs on Fitzgerald have
been there for a long time.
It was moved and seconded (Moore / Hansen) that the City and County be allowed to install a
four-way stop at the intersection of Baltimore and Fitzgerald. There being no one opposed, the
motion carried.
