Paragaph 21 is amended: a.) by increasing the minimum age for taxicab drivers <br /> from 18 to 21 years; b.) to authorize the Chief of Police to deny issuance or renewal of taxi <br /> drivers license to any person convicted of a Class 2 or greater felony within the past three years, ', <br /> or any felony involving use of a weapon; c.) to authorize the Chief of Police to deny issuance or '�, <br /> renewal of a taxi drivers license to any person who makes a false statement of facts on his or her I <br /> application for license; d.) to bar application for taxi drivers license for a period of 12 months, <br /> following denial of license based on false statement; e.)to add appeal rights; <br /> 8. Former paragraph 25, requiring taxicab drivers to wear a uniform cap, is deleted. <br /> 9. Paragraph 27 is amended to prohibit the operation of a taxicab while there is any <br /> amount of alcohol, cannabis or controlled substance in the driver's system, or while the driver's <br /> ability to safely operate a motor vehicle is impaired due to the presence of drugs other than <br /> controlled substances, cannabis or alcohol in his or her system. <br /> 10. Paragraph 28 is amended to allow taxicab drivers to use their vehicle's horn to signal <br /> for passengers, but continues to prohibit unnecessary loud or continuous blowing of the horn. <br /> 11. Paragraph 31, requiring the Chief of Police to provide Taxi Stands, is deleted. <br /> Staff recommends approval of these amendments to Chapter 60. <br /> JT'R:ps <br />
