DRAINAGE
10. As shown in the Location Plan, the mining area is surrounded by higher ground on the
northern, western and southern perimeter.
11. Existing drainage is inward to the center of the area then east to discharge into a wetland
azea in and along the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. During periods of high rainfall the
wetland will overflow direct to the Sangamon River.
12. Plans for the development of the site include the installation of 3 feet high berms on the
northern and southern boundaries as shown in the Reclamation Plan. The purpose of
these berms is to maintain the present drainage system by diverting run off to the wetland
area and away from the finished mining excavation.
 13. Almost all of the ro ert f r whi h i 1 i r li
p p y o c spec a use s equested es within the 100 year
flood plain elevation of 609. During the life of the operation a loss in flood cross section
area of 90 square feet approximately will occur. On completion of mining, a gain in
flood cross section area of 5030 square feet will be achieved as shown in the Mine Plan.
14. Water level in the finished mining excavation is anticipated to be 589 U. S. G. S.
' elevation. All pumping will be closed circuit and no discharge is planned from the
property.

3.
