Assistant City Managej
> > T
,.
RE: Illinois Commerce Commission Grant Application
As you know, we have been researching grant opportunities through the ICG We have
completed the necessary paperwork to submit a grant application to the ICC. The grant
application is a request in the amount of$380,000 for improvements to the Condit Street
overpass. The Engineering Department's rough estimate is $380,000 to complete this project.
Grade separation construction or reconstruction is typically funded in the amount of 60% from
the ICC. This would mean a possible 40% monetary responsibility, $152,000, to be parceled i
between the City and/or Canadian National Railroad.
It is my recommendation that we proceed with this project and allocate the funds during the
City's next fiscal year to cover the City's contribution if funded by the ICC. Although this ,
project has a 50/50 chance of being funded this fiscal year, it certainly should be considered as a i
top priority for the next fiscal year (7/1/2001) for the ICC. Staff is available to answer any
questions.
Attachments '
IPT-M# 00-79
Pride of the Prairie II
