,.
Page 2 I!
Staff's review of the bids after the opening resulted in no issues that needed to be
resolved by staff before proceeding with its recommendation to the City Council. The difference
between the bid price and the Engineer's Estimate is primarily due to the fact that the City does
not have much experience with this type of project. The spread of only $630 between the two
lowest bids indicates to staff that the bids received are competitive and a realistic reflection of the
actual cost of the work proposed. As a result, it is staffl s recommendation that we proceed with
this project.
Funding for this project will come from the Lake Capital Fund.
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding
a contract far the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs, Right Embankment, City Project 2000-28, to
Entler Excavating Co., Inc. as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of
$72,050.00 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract.
City Staff will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer questions that
Council members may have.
attach: 3
cc: John Smith, Water Production Manager
Keith Alexander, Lake Manager
Entler Excavating Co., Inc.
Halverson Construction Co., Inc.
Christy-Foltz, Inc.
E.
