Task 5: Internal Operations Analysis
Corradino will meet with the staff of the Decatur Public Transit System to identify internal
operational issues and concerns, such as method of sale of tickets, tokens and passes;
maintenance and administrative costs; and revenue potential. These will be documented in a
matrix format and examined with appropriate recommendations identified.
Task 6: Service Area and Operations Recommendations
Based on the work conducted in the study, Corradino will identify an appropriate service area for
the transit system's fixed-route services; specific routes that should be maintained, deleted or
added to the system; the number, size and type of vehicles that should be operated to provide
these services; service frequencies, spans and days of service; and fare structure.
These recommendations will be incorporated into tables that illustrate costs, potential ridership,
hours and miles of service, etc. In addition, a graphic route map will be prepared presenting the
proposed fixed-route transit system.
Task 7: Optimum Transit System
The transit system service recommendations defined in Task 6 will be reviewed with the City
and in light of the established financial and political limitations of the Decatur Public Transit
System.
