� <br /> l, BACKGROUND AND OBJECT/VES <br />� ' <br /> Background <br /> tit is our understanding that: <br /> • The City is interested in identifying outstanding candidates and filling a yet to be titied department <br /> � head position as soon as possible. <br /> • The City wishes to conduct a comprehensive national recruitment process, to ensure the best <br /> 1 qualified candidates are found and that the best qualified individual who is acceptable to the City <br /> can be hired. <br /> • The title of the new position, the functions and duties to be assigned and the compensation will be <br /> , determined through discussions with the City. <br /> Objectives <br /> , The objectives that we will meet in order to help find the best qualified candidates for the position are as <br /> follows: <br /> ' • To develop a comprehensive position profile and reconcile any differences in points of view with <br /> regard to spec�cations for the position. <br /> , • To seek out and encourage top level people to apply who would otherwise be reluctant to respond <br /> to an advertisement. <br /> � • To save the City a considerable amount of time in establishing a position profile and reviewing ap- <br /> plicants. <br /> • To comply with appropriate personnel regulations and State laws. <br /> ' • To independently and objectively assess the qual�cations and suitability of candidates for the <br /> position. <br /> t • To schedule final candidate interviews and coordinate the selection process. <br /> • To preserve the corifidentiafity of inquiries to the degree possible under Illinois law. <br /> ' • To assist the City to reach a final decision. <br /> � • To assist the City in negotiating a compensation package with the successful candidate. <br /> • To follow-up with the City and the setected employee during the first year to determine if adjustments <br /> 1 need to be made. <br /> • To keep the City Gosely involved in key decisions and ir�formed of our progress. <br /> ' <br /> � <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DECATUR,ILUNOIS 1 <br />
