� . � <br /> ' � Page 2 <br /> This year's sidewalk replacement program work will be in the area generally bordered by <br /> Wood Street on the north, Maffit Street on the east and Cantrell Street on the south and Martin <br /> Luther King, Jr., Drive on the west. Approximately 18,330 square feet of concrete or old brick <br /> sidewalk is planned to be replaced in this project(3,6601ineal feet of 5 foot wide sidewalk). <br /> The Engineering Division prepared the project contract documents. The project was <br /> advertised for bids and four bids were received and opened on March 23, 2000. The results of <br /> the bid opening (a bid tabulation is attached) are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� ' <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 100,005.00 --- <br /> Karnic Construction, Inc. $ 73,341.00 (26.66) <br /> Entler Excavating Co., Inc. $ 84,713.00 (15.29) <br /> Bodine Services, Inc. $ 97,470.00 ( 2.53) <br /> Christy-Foltz, Inc. $ 118,002.00 18.00 <br /> Karnic Construction has completed one project for the City. The work was completed on <br /> time and was acceptable. Karnic has provided the required insurance and bonds for the project. <br />' Funding for this project is from the General Capital Fund. <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding <br /> the contract for the 1999 Concrete Sidewalk Replacement Program, City Project 9922, to Karnic <br /> Construction, Inc. as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of their bid price of <br /> $73,341.00 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract. <br /> City staff will be available to answer questions that the Council may have at the meeting. <br /> attach: 3 <br /> cc: Phillip Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manager <br /> William Ratekin, Asst.
