. � _ RESOLUTION NO. R2000-04 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF DECATUR AND DECATUR HOUSING AUTHORITY -HOPE VI REVITALIZATION PLAN- WHEREAS, the Decatur Housing Authority has been awarded a Department of Housing and Urban Development Hope VI grant for the Decatur community, to revitalize Longview Place , and the Near North Neighborhood; and, �'I WHEREAS, successful implementation of the grant award requires community-wide collaborative efforts; and, WHEREAS, ongoing collaborative efforts during the past several months have resulted in agreement on the Hope VI conceptual plan which encompasses the redevelopment, revitalization, and reinspiration of Longview Place and Near Northside Neighborhood, while maintaining flexibility to adjust for changes in local needs and market demands; and, WHEREAS, both the City of Decatur and the Decatur Housing Authority wish to demonstrate their full and complete support for the revitalization initiatives represented by the Hope VI program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the Decatur Housing Authority and the City of Decatur join together through this action to support and endorse the revitalization of the Near North Neighborhood. Section 2. T'hat the City of Decatur and Decatur Housing Authority renew their mutual pledge to collaborate and work with other public and private community and supportive services to maximize resident and community involvement, and to commit sufficient resources and technical expertise to achieve the physical and social components of the revitalization plan.
