Howley and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Steve Garman, City Manager � ` <br /> , ��li(_� <br /> Cecil A. Collins, Jr., Director of Community Development <br /> Planning and Transit <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Support of the HOPE VI Revitalization Plan <br /> In 1999 the Decatur Housing Authority was successful in securing a HOPE VI grant from the <br /> U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the revitalization of the Near <br /> Northside, including the Longview housing complex. A copy of the grant award letter is <br /> attached for your information. Highlights of the plan include demolition of Longview and <br /> replacement with 101 newly constructed units on site, and an additiona1253 affordable housing <br /> units in the surrounding Near North neighborhood. A copy of land use plans "A" and"B" are <br /> attached for your review. <br /> The City's participation in this development is documented by the attached letter dated 5/19/99 <br /> submitted with and in support of the grant application. Furthermore a resolution formalizing the <br /> City's interest in partnering with the Housing Authority is attached for Council action. <br /> Staff will be available to respond to questions. Mr. Dave Carr, Executive Director of the Decatur <br /> Housing Authority will also be available to provide additional information as needed. <br /> Attachments <br />
