Collins, Jr., Director of Community Development Planning and Transit SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Support of the HOPE VI Revitalization Plan In 1999 the Decatur Housing Authority was successful in securing a HOPE VI grant from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the revitalization of the Near Northside, including the Longview housing complex. A copy of the grant award letter is attached for your information. Highlights of the plan include demolition of Longview and replacement with 101 newly constructed units on site, and an additiona1253 affordable housing units in the surrounding Near North neighborhood. A copy of land use plans "A" and"B" are attached for your review. The City's participation in this development is documented by the attached letter dated 5/19/99 submitted with and in support of the grant application. Furthermore a resolution formalizing the City's interest in partnering with the Housing Authority is attached for Council action. Staff will be available to respond to questions. Mr. Dave Carr, Executive Director of the Decatur Housing Authority will also be available to provide additional information as needed. Attachments
