BWC was selected from other local firms after considering performance on
previous projects, availability and expertise of assigned staff, and interest in doing the work. A
service agreement has been negotiated with BWC by staff(copy attached) for this project.
The proposed work involves obtaining field information on the street; preparing alternates
and corresponding cost estimates; meeting with City staff to recommend the final scope and
design; and, preparing the final plans and specifications. The final plans and specifications are
planned to be completed in late April, 2000. It is staff's expectation that this project will serve as
a pilot project to determine costs and methods to do other City brick streets.
The cost for the design services is an amount not-to-exceed $6,200. Funding for this project
will come from the General Capital Fund.
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding
an Engineering Service Agreement for the Upgrade of Park Place, City Project 9959, to Blank,
Wesselink, Cook & Associates, Inc., in an amount not-to-exceed $6,200, and that the Mayor be
authorized to execute the agreement.
City staff will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions that
Council members may have.
attach: 2
cc: Phillip R. Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manager
Matthew C. Newell, Traffic Engineer
Robert Dean, BWC
