These companies have offered employment opportunities to <br /> Decatur residents as well as recycling capabilities designed to address the recycling needs of <br /> Decatur's residential homeowners. <br /> l�� Current Recvclin� Practices <br /> The City of Decatur operates a citywide recycling program in conjunction with a contractor. <br /> Currently, the City is divided into five areas from which recyclables are collected once every <br /> week. Recyclables included in the program a.re: glass, newspaper, magazines, #1 and �2 pla.stics, <br /> aluminum, bi-metal, and tin (see Appendix B for a summary of the expenence of Decatur's <br /> recycling program since its inception). The contractor collects recyclables placed in 18-oallon red <br /> recycling bins at the curbside (or at equivalent locations) of each residential unit between 7:00 <br /> :�:'�1 and 5:00 PM. RecyclinQ collection is based on a�lat monthly fee which is billed by the City <br /> to residents on the City's municipal utilities bill and paid monthly Co the contractor.
